Targetted Approach to Stopping Unwanted Email
The Roundcube web-mail application, used by Stackmail, allows the owner of a particular email account the ability to filter out emails by using specific ‘rules’. The following demonstrates the simple configuration steps.
Firstly, log into your stackmail email account. Click on the ‘Settings’ or ‘gear icon’ tab on the left side.
Then select the ‘Filters’ sub-section:
On the first visit here, there will be nothing listed. In the top right column, click on the ‘Create’ icon. So, now the new filter can defined. Give it a meaningful filter name. Keep the filter enabled, and change the scope to ‘matching any for the following rules’:
Now add the filter rules. An example of email ‘subject’, ‘from’, and ‘body’ (the email message) rules are illustrated below. Use the ‘+’ icon to add a new rule, or the ‘rubbish bin’ icon to delete an existing rule.
The final task is to decide what action to take with the emails that have been ‘caught’ by this filter. The example shown here is to discard/delete the message completely. An alternative is to redirect to a ‘junk’ email account.
Finally, click on ‘Save’ to save the filter rule. All done! Click on the ‘Mail’ tab on the left side to return to usual email viewer window.
Note: It is always possible to return to this filter rule and alter the configuration at a later date.
